Course Reference Number: TGS-2022013744
Course Overview
Basic TCM Medicated Diet for Health and Wellness Practitioners is one of the basic modules under the TCMandYou series, The Essential TCM Skills for Health and Wellness Practitioners. It is designed to equip learners with basic knowledge of medicated diet from the Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, food is understood not only as nutrition, but also as part of daily health betterment. Different foods have different energetic properties, tastes, tendencies, and applications. When selected appropriately, food may support balance, nourishment, recovery, and general wellness.
This course introduces learners to the TCM approach to medicated diet, including body constitution, seasonal adaptation, locality, life stages, ingredient preparation, daily diet planning, beauty and weight management principles, and the role of medicated diet in chronic health betterment support.
Why This Course Matters
Food is one of the most practical entry points into Traditional Chinese Medicine. Unlike specialised clinical procedures, daily diet is something every person interacts with. This makes medicated diet a powerful education bridge between TCM theory and everyday health betterment.
However, TCM medicated diet should not be reduced to random “healthy recipes” or general food trends. The value of this course lies in helping learners understand how food choices may be guided by constitution, season, locality, life stage, preparation method, and individual needs.
For health and wellness practitioners, this course strengthens the ability to communicate responsible, culturally rooted, and practical food-based wellness guidance within appropriate professional boundaries.
Course Objectives
This course explores the concept of medicated diet in TCM and is designed to help trainees understand the importance of individual body constitution when engaging in medicated diet planning.
Participants will learn how differentiated dietary thinking may vary according to seasons, locality, and different life stages. These factors directly influence food selection, ingredient use, and the identification of common food and medicinal substances used in daily health betterment.
The course aims to equip participants with knowledge that can be responsibly integrated into their education, wellness communication, and general recommendations to followers, clients, or communities.
